Today was another great day in Kindergarten filled with fun Hebrew reading activities!

We received a secret message. We painted over the paper with water color and like magic, words appeared on the page!

As part of an all about me theme, we learned a Hebrew body parts song and now we have the lyrics to sing it at home. This project will come home on Friday. Please keep all the Hebrew projects that are sent home on Friday- I will let you know if I need something returned.

Dear Parents,

Today our friendly Israeli puppet named Bentzi joined us and taught us new words: Ata and At (you for male and female) and yeled/ yalda (boy/girl). We categorized all the girls and boys in our class under columns highlighting these new words. We introduced ourselves and pointed to a friend and said Ata/At____.

At home you can try "Ani ____ (Imma/Abba) Ata/At______". Ask your children to say that sentence back to you from their point of view.

While Morah Shaina worked with small reading groups, the children used playdough to spell sounds or words they can read.

Dear Parents,

Today we practiced Kamatz sounds using a zip line activity. The children said the sounds the letters made as they went down the zip line. Everyone got a turn and enjoyed reading as the letter and vowel zoomed down the line.

Morah Shaina read the sounds while the children highlighted the correct letter. Afterwards we decorated and practiced reading all the sounds.

These Alef Bet spoons are now part of our housekeeping work station. There are clear spoons with vowels, and white spoons with letters. We can make endless combinations and spell words we know!

Dear Parents,

It's Friday and the Kindergarten Kochavim enjoyed baking Challah again. Stretching and shaping the dough helps the children strengthen the small muscles in their fingers—the same muscles they use to hold a pencil and write.

More kamatz packet pages... and one-on-one reading practice with Morah Shaina

Puzzle Fun!

Dear Parents,
Today we practiced saying "Shalom Ani____ " and introduced two new words : Yeladim and Yeladot (boys and girls). We grouped ourselves according to gender and we were able to follow simple actions in Hebrew:
Yeladim Lashevet (boys sit) Yeladot La'Amod (girls stand up) etc.

We cut and pasted Kindergarten Kochavim names into the appropriate columns for yeladim and yeladot in order to reinforce this lesson.

Dear Parents,

Today we made place-mats to use during our snack and lunch times. (Speaking of snack, our new routine is AWESOME!) The place-mats have Hebrew names on them so we can become familiar with the letters in our names.

We continued working on our Kamatz packets...

We used these Alef Bet wheels as part of our group activity.

Take a look inside our Kamatz sensory bottle. There are plenty of words to find and read! Sensory bottles are also very relaxing-- if you'd like to make your own, check out some ideas here
